Detoxification is so important it’s something that our bodies do on a daily basis.
It is that vital for our survival. But not too many people realize how important it is for health and healing. The health dictum “out of the old, in with the new” cannot be possible without a well-planned detox.
Try to do at least a couple of detoxes a year. The best and easiest times of the year to do them are during spring and fall. Just as the earth benefits from the changes of seasons, the body can also benefit from the processes of shedding and renewal—the two very things that fall and spring represent. Not only will overall tune-ups get you in sync with the season; they also prepare you for the “harshness” of the seasons that follow—the heat of the summer and the chill of winter.
So you must be wondering, what should be a seasonal detox like? Well for me it should always be simple and uncomplicated.
Here is my Green Juice recipe along with Permacharts to help you get started. In addition, here are some great books for you to enjoy.
Remember to drink plenty of alkaline water during your detox and everyday!
Here are some of the ways I have carried out my own seasonal tune-ups.
- Eat fruits and vegetables that are in season. Try to gravitate more towards water-rich alkaline vegetables such as green vegetables.
Top vegetables to include are kale, broccoli, spinach, kale, bok choy, celery, and lettuce.
Do not deprive yourself of seasonal fruits even if they are on the medium to high GI side. It’s better to consume these on a seasonal cleanse than any animal food. Fruits in season are highly nutritious. The only drawback in consuming sweet fruit is the amount of sugar present in it. The sugar content may make some fruits acidifying so blend them with ionized alkaline water and alkalizing green vegetables or green, detoxifying superfood powders such as spirulina, barley, wheatgrass, and chlorella powder.
- Go completely vegan even for just one week.
Better if you can do it for two weeks for a deeper detox. It’s alright. Going vegan a couple of times a year won’t kill you. Just don’t focus on deprivation. Think instead of the benefits you’ll reap from a wholesome and balanced vegan cleanse, such as a smaller waist line, lower blood cholesterol and total triglycerides, more stable blood sugar, lower blood pressure, glowing skin, and better moods. Doing a short-term vegan cleanse can also help you reduce your unhealthy food cravings. If you can do a 100% raw vegan cleanse for two weeks then you’ll really be helping your body clean up, reset, and rejuvenate itself. It’s also a great way to accustom yourself to eating more raw foods for the rest of the year.
- Forgo common allergenic foods
Such as gluten (found in wheat, barley, rye, and cross-contaminated oats), dairy, corn, eggs, soy, fish, peanuts, tree nuts (cashews, pistachios, macadamia nuts, almonds, pine nuts, walnuts, hazel nuts, and pecans), and shell fish. Except for soy, almonds, and pine nuts, all of these foods are acidifying anyway just like chicken, turkey, and red meat (processed, organic or not, animal foods are always highly acidifying). The whole idea is to reduce your overall acid load.
- Give up sugar, caffeine (coffee, cacao, and soda), fast food, junk food, and any other heavily processed food high in sugar, salt, and fat
Go completely oil-free if possible. Yes, this includes raw cold-pressed oils. You want your blood to be thin to facilitate the detox so it’s better if you go low-fat during this period.
- Hit the sauna and sweat out all those loosened toxins
Infrared saunas are more healing regular wet and dry saunas.
- Book for a few colonic sessions
I highly recommend that you perform a parasite cleanse using vermifuge supplements to maximize the benefits of hydrocolonic therapy. You don’t just want the mucoid plaque, impacted fecal matter, toxins, and acids out of your colon. You also want to get rid of those unwelcome creatures that make your colon more toxic.
- Go for a lymphatic drainage massage to unblock clogged and stagnant lymph nodes
- Let go of old, damaging thoughts and emotions such as unforgiveness, resentment, hatred, anger, desire for revenge, envy etc
When you go on a seasonal cleanse it is also good if you heal on all levels, not just physically but emotionally, mentally, and spiritually as well.
Go with the flow of the season. Go for a seasonal detox!

Marty, Yes this sounds wonderful. All these actions provide a greater amount of oxygen to the body. Thanks
I liked that you pointed out that it would be smart to look into doing some detoxes that will help your lymph nodes drain. Personally, I would want to look into ones that will help my blood or help clean out my colon. It seems like I would want to look into an expert opinion on what detox to use.
